Born in Roebuck Grove, County Dublin, Hone later studied at the Byam Shaw School of Art in London, then the Westminster Technical Institute and then returned home to Ireland where she became a driving influence in the modern movement. She was also elected to the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA). She passed away in 1955. Hone is the most well known for her work in stained glass as well as painting and has been noted as one of the pioneers Cubism.
