Eamon Doyle

Eamon was born
in Dublin, Ireland in the early sixties, but moved
to west Clare with his family at the age of ten. This was at a time when moving
from the city to the country was not the done thing in Ireland.
It proved to be a very fortuitous move for Eamon as the freedom and beauty of
the rural landscape forged a bond which is the core of his painting today. The
fields, walls, cliffs, sea, birds, animals, clouds, castles, and rocks of west
Clare are the inspiration and underlying source for all his paintings.
Eamon studied Geology and received his PhD in Palaeontolgy. Having worked in Jamaica, Bolivia,
Mexico and Los Angeles, Eamon returned to West
Clare to paint.
Eamon works almost exclusively in acrylics and uses a variety of styles to
express his connection to the interior and exterior landscape. Rather than
seeing these as distinct, discreet styles Eamon sees them as a continuity which
reflects the changing moods of the landscape and his response to it. If he has
a style it could be described as 'free-flowing', flowing as it does from one
style to another.
There
is a certain air of mystery one gets when taking in Doyle's art. His woodland
creatures playfully depicted, curiously investigating their surrounds -
sometimes meddlesome. To observe Doyle's
