Reflections, Connemara - Oil on Board

Born into a wealthy Limerick family in 1871, Douglas Alexander began his working life as an apprentice to a wholesale merchant. Alexander is most famous for his gentle yet highly talented oil and watercolour images of the West of Ireland, particularly Connemara. Despite the prominence of his family in Limerick, Alexander died in penury in 1945.
