Christopher Tarleton

Christopher Tarleton is a Dublin artist in his thirties. Living in Wicklow he is influenced by the sea shore, the elements and the ever changing light, which he captures with dramatic effect by his use of impasto over the entire canvas. This technique, so skillfully used, gives Tarleton control over the play of light and the expressiveness and strength in his paintings.

His bright palette and heavy brush strokes are reminiscent of William de Kooning's dynamic, abstract expressionist style.  However, unlike the well-known American artist, Tarleton uses his artistic energy to capture the vibrant beauty of the Irish landscape.  Texture and colour are used unreservedly throughout his pieces to make huge visual statements, brightening up the decor of any room.
