"The first time I ever saw a cow was in Hawaii. I had hitched my way to San Francisco from Texas and was destined to end my journeys in Honolulua... AKA. paradise! It was late September, which was peak season for Hawaii as it was surf season. Unable to get a flight I managed to get on board a boat. It was no ordinary boat but a boat filled with cattle. I helped feed them, washed them down and tried to keep them calm, ever since that day I have a fascination with them... it was love at first sight! And that's how it all started." Dublin born artist, Deborah Donnelly graduated from NCAD in 1998, beginning what has been, so far, an extraordinarily successful career. She returned from a two-year stay in Massachusetts, where she worked, taught and exhibited. Although America provided Deborah with many opportunities, she was eager to return home and has now built up a reputation for her humorous paintings of quirky animals. In 2010 Deborah launched a very successful children's book "How To Paint A Cow" and is expanding the series to include "How to Paint a Pig and Chicken"! She housed a very successful solo show in London this year and her paintings continue to be sought after and a great investment. One of her biggest commissions was from Gary Rhodes. These ten 12ft x 12ft paintings now hang in one of his London restaurants.
